چکیده

As the penetration of non-dispatchable renewable energy increases around the world, there is greater need to have smart power electronics interfaces to stabilize the electricity grid. Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) with advanced grid functionality and utility communication capabilities have the ability to assist grid operators with frequency and voltage regulation. As a result, the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) is considering updating Electric Rule 21 to require advanced functions on all newly interconnected PV inverters for Investor Owned Utilities (IOUs). One hurdle to installing PV inverters with the new functionality is certifying the DERs for advanced interoperability grid functionality defined in the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Technical Report 61850-90-7. In November 2013, Sandia National Laboratories published testing protocols for advanced grid functions as a precursor to an international or updated Underwriters Laboratories (UL) 1741 certification standard. To accelerate this process, Sandia and an international collaborative of research laboratories began exercising the test protocols to improve the procedure and test parameters for the different advanced functions. This paper describes the process of automating the testing process with the SunSpec Alliance System Validation Platform and python scripting methodology. Results from four automated interoperability functions for a 3 kW residential-scale photovoltaic inverter are included. Index Terms — advanced inverter functionality, advanced grid functions, smart grid, voltage support, frequency support, photovoltaic systems, PV reliability.

Collaborative Development of Automated Advanced Interoperability Certification Test Protocols for Pv Smart Grid Integration

Photovoltaic (PV) systems and other Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) can provide voltage and frequency support to the electric grid through commanded and autonomous operating modes. These functions have been standardized in the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Technical Report 61850-90-7 in 2013; and recently, in response to national and international requirements, are being a...

International Development of Energy Storage Interoperability Test Protocols for Photovoltaic Integration

As variable, non-dispatchable photovoltaic power continues to displace traditional generation assets, additional resources are needed to control bulk and local power systems. One highly versatile option for providing frequency and voltage stability is to incorporate Energy Storage Systems (ESSs) at the distribution-level. Deployment of these technologies is expected to increase rapidly as time-...

New Low Cost Printed Antenna CPW-Fed for Global Positioning System, Personal Communication System and Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access Band Applications (TECHNICAL NOTE)

This paper presents a new design of a CPW-Fed multi bands planar antenna. This antenna can be integrated easily with passive and active elements. The proposed antenna is suitable to operate for GPS, PCS and WiMAX bands. Its entire area is 52.3x52.6mm2 and is employed on an FR-4 epoxy substrate and fed by a 50 Ohm coplanar line. The antenna parameters have been analyzed and optimized by using AD...

Comparing WSDL-Based and ebXML-Based Approaches for B2B Protocol Specification

When automating business processes spanning organizational boundaries, it is required to explicitly specify the interfaces of the cooperating software systems in order to achieve the desired properties of interoperability and loose coupling. So-called B2B protocols provide for the formal specification of relevant aspects of an interface, ranging from document types to transactions. Currently, t...

Training compositional agents in negotiation protocols using ontologies

The Internet facilitates the creation of new markets, which has motivated the development of new technologies for e-commerce. The increasing number of e-markets poses a big challenge to designers of e-commerce services. Agent-based applications are the most appropriate for merchandising because software agents are suitable for automating tedious tasks that the user may have to perform, such as,...
